First New EQE exam announced: Foundation 2025! (Updated 29/2/2024: registration and enrolment deadlines published)
The date for the first New EQE exam, Foundation 2025, has been announced today on the EQE website!
Foundation 2025 will be on Friday, 21.03.2025.

Please refer to the EQE website (EPO) for details and for information on registration and enrolment (currently, 2 Feb 2024, not yet available) to the Foundation exam.
Update 29/2/2024: registration and enrolment information is given in the "Announcement of the EQE 2025" in OJ 2024, A26, which provides:
- The foundation paper F will be held on 21 March 2025.
- Candidates who wish to enrol for paper F must register by 28 May 2024.
- Registered candidates may enrol for paper F from 8 July to 23 September 2024.
- All further relevant information is published on the European qualifying examination website (eqe.org).

ReplyDeleteThanks, that information was well-hidden on the EQE website: Not a new announcement, but a replacement of an earlier notice. How can I enrol? I will have 1,5 year supervision in March 2025, so could not yet sit Pre-Examination 2025 and hence have not yet registered my start of supervision: can I still that, until when? I cannot find that information on the website, it only says “register before 15 January 2024 if you want to sit Pre-Examination 2025”?

DeleteInformation on registration and enrollment is not yet available, not on the EPO website, nor from a request therefore to the EQE secretariat - presumably it will come shortly after the New IPREE is decided upon by the Supervisory Board and becomes available on the EQE website and/or in the OJ.
The most recent information on registration on the EQE website says:
“Candidates are expected to register shortly after starting their professional training.
Deadline for compulsory registration prior to enrolment for the pre-examination 2024 is 15 January 2023. See OJ EPO 2018, A99.”
The information on registration for the Foundation EQE 2025 will need to be, in my opinion, at a later moment than 15 January 2024 (which it would be if OJ 2018, A99 would apply mutatis mutandis to the Foundation) as it can clearly not be required to register more than 1 yr before the Foundation takes place in view of the shorter, 1 yr minimum professional activity requirement (compared to 2 yr for the Pre-exam for patent attorney trainees and 3 yr for the Pre-Exam for EPO examiners) and in view of the Foundation 2025 only being announced in the New REE in the OJ of January (published 31 January 2024).
Registration and enrolment information has been published today in OJ 2024, A26 "Announcement of the EQE 2025", which provides:
